Description

A black clay woman figure holding a bowl. The woman has braided hair and wears a rebozo over her shoulders. The clay in this piece was hand polished with a quartz stone, and then fired without allowing oxygen inside the home made kiln. This oxygen reduction method of firing is what gives the pottery it's black color, and the hand burnishing with the quartz stone is what gives it a beautiful shine.
