Two black clay pitchers, each with a large flower and leaves molded onto its front. The clay in this piece was hand polished with a quartz stone, and then fired without allowing oxygen inside the home made kiln. This oxygen reduction method of firing is what gives the pottery it's black color, and the hand burnishing with the quartz stone is what gives it a beautiful shine.
