These two monochrome ceramic candle holder boats are from Tzintzuntzan, Mexico. The village of Tzintzuntzan is located in the state of Michoacan, about 230 miles west of Mexico City in a mountainous region near Lake Patzcuaro. It is known for its pottery trade for the tourist market. These two fishing boats show two women, one holding a child, kneeling before pillars which act as candle holders. The boats were hand crafted with red clay and glazed in white and dark brown lines. They were made in the 1940s and reflect a fishing lifestyle common for many who live on Lake Pazcuaro.
