Description

This is a Guatemalan Huipil, a traditional garment worn by indigenous women from mostly Mexico and Guatemala. This particular Huipil was made in San Lucas Tolimán, a town on the southeastern shores of Lago de Atitlan. Huipils are traditionally made from hand woven fabric made on a backstrap loom. This Huipil has repeating patterns of different brightly colored embroidered shapes, a characteristic of many Guatemalan Huipils.
