Josefina Aguilar
This ceramic woman figure was created by Josefina Aguilar, a famous ceramic artist from Ocotlan de Morelos, Oaxaca, Mexico. Aguilar calls her sculptures muñecas (or dolls), an art form Josefina learned from her mother Isaura Aguilar. Josefina and her family are internationally renowned for their meticulously crafted ceramics made from natural clay and adorned with vibrant colors and intricate details that reflect regional attire and symbolic elements. Usually small in stature, this muñeca is unique in being 2 feet or taller in height.
