In celebration of Black History Month, the Folk Art Museum of Central Texas highlights the works of African American artists from the collection of Harriet Joan Ehrlich, an avid collector of American folk art. Though only eight items, the works exhibit a diversity of artistic styles, from the expressionistic paintings of famous figures by Ike Edward Morgan and Chuckie Williams to the intricately crafted papier mache of Patrick Davis. Depictions of daily life in Bill Potts’ wood carved indoor scenes and religious storytelling in Aylene Harris’ John the Baptist painting, also reveal a range of themes and ideas in the works on display.
